Maia knows how Jace feels about Clary and makes it pretty clear that this is all physical. The process somehow takes a turn, and I swear I looked away for less than a second yet Maia and Jace are suddenly making out against the alley wall. In the very last scene of the episode, Jace meets Maia during Simon’s show in order to apologize and remove her tracker. Even though he’s hesitant at first, Clary convinces Simon to give it and shot and he absolutely KILLS it. She tells him that she’s heard the music he’s been writing and it definitely should be shared. There’s no rock, there’s no solid, I’m just a lone panda.” Despite no longer having his band, Clary arranges for Simon to sing at Hunter’s Moon. Like Simon said earlier, “Rock Solid Panda’s kinda extinct now. Shadowhunters and Downworlders are equal, and that’s something that they can’t let the clave forget. He declares Alec head of the Institute while the Inquisitor is away, telling him that he was right about the Downworlders.
Sometimes being a leader means knowing went to step back, so Jace decides to pass the torch. Needless to say, Isabelle ends it all right there. Realizing that the real murderer is a Seelie, they track Max down and discover that Kaelie has been killing Shadowhunters and purposely trying to make it look like the work of Downworlders. After leaving him alone for less than a minute, Max is kidnapped by the same person who’s been killing all the Shadowhunters. Right when the two are getting close, Izzy runs into Max who left the Institute hoping to help out with the mission. Teaming up with Raphael, Izzy goes to look for the killer herself.
This is fine, I’m fine!!!! Izzy’s got it covered He never has to prove himself to him and he loves him. Alec comes back that night and tells Magnus that he’s sorry. Magnus ends up spending most of the day with Dot, but he turns her down when she tries to make and tells her that he’s in love with Alec. He hands over his hair and tells Alec to get out. After suffering at the hands of the Institute last episode, Magnus doesn’t appreciate Alec just blindly doing whatever the clave wants. The Malec of it allĪfter hearing that the Institute wants to perform DNA testing on the Downworlders, Alec immediately head over to Magnus’ apartment to get a strand of hair and clear his name. Now that she’s considered a possible suspect, Jace allows the other Shadowhunters to take Maia and lock her up as well. But if we know anything about Jace it’s that his heart is always in the right place. As soon as Inquisitor Herondale leaves, Jace sets them both free. No Downworlders are allowed inside the Institute, and Simon is no exception. He manages to rescue Clary and take her back to the Institute where the Inquisitor throws him in lockup for refusing to leave Clary’s side. Simon immediately rushes to save her, and finds her unconscious and being dragged away by her attacker. While she’s on the phone with Simon, Clary is attacked on her walk home. It’s wrong to force a prejudice onto all the Downworlders based on one assumption.
But even Jace himself knows that if they continue to treat the Downworlders like criminals a war is bound to start. Getting into yet another fight with Jace, the tracker is forced into her neck by a nearby Shadowhunter. Maia is just not having it with the tracker situation and she makes it clear to Jace that she is not going along with it. Caught between wanting to please his grandma and doing what he thinks is right, Jace ends up following her orders to place trackers in all the Downworlders until they can find out who is responsible for the murders. With Inquisitor Herondale leaving town she appoints Jace, her long lost grandson, as temporary head of the Institute in her absence. When more dead Shadowhunters start to pop up around the city, the Institute immediately assumes it’s the doing of Downworlders. They follow a trail and stumble across a Shadowhunter who’s been ripped to shreds. Ready to get out of there, Clary and Simon start to walk home until Simon smells blood. The episode starts off with Clary and Simon on a date night while Jace is at the bar being served by Maia just a few feet away. The overall message of this episode was important to include even in the world of Shadowhunters, and I for one thought it got it’s main point across pretty well. So much happened that I had to watch it twice before I could fully comprehend everything that went down. That last episode of Shadowhunters was definitely intense to say the least.
